Baseball Game Preview: Marquette University Hilltoppers vs. Germantown Warhawks

For the second straight game, Marquette University will face off against Germantown. The Hilltoppers will face off against the Warhawks at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.

Tuesday just wasn't the day for Marquette University's offense. They fell 3-0 to Germantown on Tuesday. The Hilltoppers haven't had much luck with the Warhawks recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.

For Germantown's part, not much got past Evan Lauer, who gave up just three hits to keep Marquette University off the board. Lauer has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Germantown's win was truly a team effort as five different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Carter Gordon, who went 2-for-4 with one double and one RBI.

Germantown is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-3 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.1 runs on average over those games. As for Marquette University, their loss dropped their record down to 10-8.
