Soccer Recap: Emerson Comes Up Short

Emerson lost against Centennial back in February, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Emerson Mavericks fell just short of the Centennial Titans by a score of 3-2. While losing is never fun, the Mavericks can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas soccer rankings (they are ranked 83rd, while the Titans are ranked 16th).

Paxton Ancheta and Amir Tashmukhamedov scored both of Emerson's goals, bringing their combined season tally to eight goals.

Emerson moved to 11-6-2 with that loss, which also ended their three-game winning streak. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 14 goals over those three contests. As for Centennial, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-1-4 record this season.

Emerson will take on Liberty at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Centennial, they will face off against Heritage at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday.
