Volleyball Recap: Marshall Now 12-1 over Last 13 Games

Marshall won the last time they faced South El Monte and things went their way on Wednesday too. Marshall walked away with a 3-1 victory over South El Monte.

Marshall had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next three. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 14-25, 25-14, 25-21, 25-22.

Marshall was led to victory by Lena Lao and Harlem Castro. Lao had 11 digs and three aces, while Castro had seven digs and two aces. Castro is on a roll when it comes to aces, as she's now served two or more in each of the last six games she's played.

They weren't the only good servers: Marshall was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 16 aces. They served five more aces than South El Monte's also-impressive total of 11.

Marshall is on a roll lately: they've won 12 of their last 13 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-4 record this season. As for South El Monte, they dropped their record down to 10-11 with the loss, which was their fourth straight on the road.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Marshall will challenge rival Gabrielino at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, South El Monte is set to square off against their familiar foe El Monte at 3:30 p.m. on Friday.
