Orting is 2-8 against White River since April of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Cardinals will look to defend their home field against the Hornets at 4:00 p.m. After the two teams made easy work of their previous opponents, one won't be so lucky on Thursday.
Orting's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They blew past Washington 15-0. That looming 15-0 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Cardinals yet this season.
Johnny Turner was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Turner was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.
In other batting news, Graysen Pedersen was incredible, going 1-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Laithan Lawson was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Orting always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .590. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask White River). Everything went their way against Beamer on Monday as they made off with a 13-0 victory. The Hornets haven't had any issues with the Titans recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.
Chaz Bailey and Jaxson Whiting did most of the damage at the plate: Bailey went 3-for-5 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and one run, while Whiting went 2-for-5 with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. That's the most RBI Whiting has posted since back in May of 2025. The team also got some help courtesy of Jackson Rock, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Orting now has a winning record of 3-2. As for White River, the victory got them back to even at 4-4.
Orting came out on top in a nail-biter against White River when the teams last played back in April of 2025, sneaking past 12-10. Do the Cardinals have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Hornets turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
