Baseball Game Preview: West Valley Eagles vs. North Central Wolfpack

The West Valley Eagles will square off against the North Central Wolfpack at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. West Valley's pitching crew has only allowed 1.9 runs per game this season, so North Central's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

On Monday, West Valley didn't have quite enough to beat Pullman and fell 5-4. The contest marked the Eagles' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

North Central came out on top against Rogers on Monday thanks in part to the team's impressive seven-run fifth inning. The Wolfpack blew past the Pirates 12-2. The Wolfpack haven't had any issues with the Pirates recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.

Tavish Carruthers spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on six hits and racked up eight Ks.

On the hitting side, Giancarlo Lentes was excellent, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run. Nicholas Elliott was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run.

Having lost for the first time this season, West Valley fell to 6-1. As for North Central, their victory bumped their record up to 3-5.

West Valley came up short against North Central in their previous meeting back in May of 2025, falling 12-8. Can the Eagles avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
