St. Anselm's Abbey entered their tilt with Model Secondary School for the Deaf on Friday with five consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with six. They skirted past the Model Secondary School for the Deaf Eagles 47-45. While the Panthers didn't have the best season last year (they finished 4-18), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead St. Anselm's Abbey to victory, but perhaps none more so than Max Leeman, who went 8 for 16 on his way to 18 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jordan Byrd, who went 5 of 10 en route to 11 points.

St. Anselm's Abbey's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 6-2. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 52.3 points per game. As for Model Secondary School for the Deaf, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-6.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. St. Anselm's Abbey will square off against Spencerville Adventist Academy at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday. As for Model Secondary School for the Deaf, they will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on BASIS at 5:30 p.m. on January 22nd.
