Puget Sound High School Football Games of the Week

Bellevue (4-0) at Juanita (3-1) – Friday
Bellevue carries the nation's fourth-longest winning streak (44 games) into this matchup with Juanita. The Wolverines have dismantled their first four opponents by a collective score of 184-20. The Rebels are feeling good about themselves following a 55-21 win over Liberty (Renton) last week.

Redmond (4-0) at Bothell (3-1) – Friday
On the heels of a 3-7 campaign a year ago, Redmond is 4-0 and averaging 35 points per game. Battle-tested Bothell – fresh off drubbings of Capital and Eastlake – will be a tall task for the Mustangs, however.

Tumwater (4-0) at W.F. West (4-0) – Friday
Looking for a shootout this weekend? Chehalis may be the place. Tumwater enters averaging 43.7 points per game while W.F. West is throwing up 44 points per game of their own. Thunderbirds senior Christian Cummings has already piled up 647 yards and 10 TDs on the ground.

Cascade (4-0) at Edmonds-Woodway (4-0) – Friday
Edmonds-Woodway is coming off a big win over Jackson last week that saw senior back Junior Opoku-Mensah run 32 times for 164 yards. But no rest for the Warriors as they will have to slow down Cascade's suddenly-potent offensive attack. After scoring 202 points all of last season, the Bruins have thrown up 151 in the last three weeks alone.

Federal Way (3-1) at Puyallup (3-1) – Friday
With Graham-Kapowsin and Curtis making an early claim on the top two spots in the SPSL South, Sparks Stadium will host a mid-season game with major playoff implications. Puyallup quarterback Brendan Illies is among the state's passing leaders with 1,225 yards and 17 TD passes already. After a humbling loss to Graham-Kapowsin two weeks ago, Federal Way got back on track with a 45-18 win over Bethel last week.

Outside the Sound

Chiawana (4-0) at Wenatchee (3-1) – Friday
Two of the heavyweights in the Columbia Basin hook it up in one of the area's biggest games of the year. Chiawana has outscored its first four opponents 178-14 but hasn't seen a playmaker like Stanford pledge Isaiah Brandt-Sims, who leads the Big 9 in rushing and all-purpose yards.

Around the State

* Look out for Lincoln. Head coach Jon Kitna and the Abes are 4-0 heading into Friday's game with 1-3 Timberline. Lincoln is averaging 59.6 points per game in its last three outings and senior running back Rayshaun Miller has emerged as a certified gamebreaker.

* The highest-scoring team through four weeks is tiny Morton/White Pass. The T-Wolves have four seniors – including senior QB Rylon Kolb – who have combined for 865 yards and 18 touchdowns on the ground while blasting opponents by scores of 68-0, 55-6, 52-0 and 46-0. The 5-foot-11 Kolb has also thrown for over 500 yards and seven scores.

* How are Washington teams doing against out-of-state competition this fall? Last year, Washington owned one of the nation's top winning percentages in out-of-state games with an overall record of 42-27 (.608) according to Ned Freeman's CalPreps.com. The Evergreen State is off the pace a bit this season with an overall record of 33-27 (.550). That mark includes a 2-0 record against Alaska, a 19-19 mark against Idaho and 12-8 tally against rival Oregon.
