Volleyball Recap: York Dukes vs. Northwest Vikings
York was the 2-1 winner over Northwest when they last played one another on Saturday, but their luck changed this time around. The Dukes fell just short of the Vikings by a score of 3-2 on Tuesday. The Dukes have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back matches.
York wouldn't go down easily and took Northwest into a fifth set but they suffered a heartbreaking two-point loss. The match finished with set scores of 25-23, 25-15, 17-25, 23-25, 15-13.
York's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Claire Koch, who had 18 digs, and Kendyl Hirschfeld, who had five digs and three aces. Danika Pohl was another key player, getting nine digs and two aces.
Halle Rice had an outrageously good game for Northwest as she had 23 digs and three aces. Those 23 digs gave Rice a new career-high. Tessa Scheer also deserves some recognition as she posted her first assist of the season.
York's defeat dropped their record down to 15-17. As for Northwest, their win was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 22-10.
