Baseball Game Preview: Washington Huskies vs. Skyline Titans

The Washington Huskies will square off against the Skyline Titans at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Washington will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each contest than the last.

Washington took a loss when they played away from home on Wednesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Thursday. They walked away with a 6-2 win over James Logan. The victory was some much needed relief for the Huskies as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.

Hugo Marks spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on five hits and racked up six Ks. Washington is 4-1 when Marks allows two or fewer earned runs, but 4-6 otherwise.

On the hitting side, Washington's win was truly a team effort as seven different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Ezekiel Porter, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and one RBI.

The home team had won the previous four meetings between Skyline and Oakland Tech, and Skyline kept the tradition alive. The Titans put the hurt on the Bulldogs with a sharp 17-8 victory on Friday. The Titans might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five matches by seven runs or more this season.

Skyline's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-8. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.5 runs over those games. As for Washington, they now have a winning record of 8-7.
