Baseball Game Preview: Standing Bear Grizzlies vs. Elkhorn Antlers

The Standing Bear Grizzlies will head out to take on the Elkhorn Antlers at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Standing Bear's pitching crew heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Wednesday. They came out on top against Bellevue East by a score of 3-0. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Grizzlies.

Meanwhile, Elkhorn waltzed into their contest on Friday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They skirted past the Cougars 7-5. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Antlers have posted since March 28th.

Daniel Narber tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits over 4.1 innings pitched. He has been consistent for a while: he hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Caiden Severson was incredible, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. He is becoming a predictor of Elkhorn's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 7-11 when he doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Elliot Beister, who went 2-for-5 with two stolen bases and two runs.

Elkhorn was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .304 or higher in three consecutive games.

Elkhorn's record is now 10-11. As for Standing Bear, the victory was their first on the road , bumping their record up to 6-13.
