Basketball Recap: St. Michael's Makes It 19 in a Row on the Road

St. Michael entered their tilt with Second Baptist on Friday with eight consecutive wins , and they'll enter their next game with nine. They took down the Second Baptist Eagles 71-53. Given the Warriors' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked fifth, while the Eagles are ranked 70th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

St. Michael's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Aiden Disu, who en route to 16 points and five boards. Disu's big performance that evening made it six games in a row in which he has scored at least 15 points. Another player making a difference was Nolan Barkley, who to rack up 11 points along with seven rebounds and three steals.

St. Michael's was working as a unit and finished the game with 14 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Second Baptist only seven assists.

Despite the defeat, Second Baptist saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Reese Alston on his way to 19 points in addition to seven boards and six assists. Alston is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in each of the last 26 games he's played. Michael Pratt was another key player, en route to 13 points.

St. Michael's victory was their 19th straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 28-4. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 73.5 points over those games. As for Second Baptist, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 29-4.

St. Michael's wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 102-66 win against Concordia Lutheran on the 18th. Second Baptist does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
