Preview: Lumberton vs. Mount Olive

If the MaxPreps state rankings hold true, the near future looks bright for Lumberton. They hope to keep the momentum going despite having enjoyed some extra time before their next contest against Mount Olive at 7:00 PM on Friday. Lumberton have yet to lose; Mount Olive, on the other hand, are desperate for their first win.

Lumberton were able to grind out a solid victory over Franklin County two weeks ago, winning 33-24. No one put up better numbers for Lumberton than senior Davion Edwards, who brought his A game into the match. He rushed for 101 yards and 2 touchdowns. In fact, with 12 tackles Edwards was a force on both sides of the ball.

Meanwhile, Mount Olive might have drawn first blood against Pelahatchie last week, but it was Pelahatchie who got the last laugh. Mount Olive were completely outmatched, falling 14-60 to Pelahatchie. Mount Olive were in a tough position by the half, with the score sitting at 8-47.

Lumberton's victory lifted them to 4-0 while Mount Olive's loss dropped them down to 0-5. We'll see if Lumberton's success rolls on or if Mount Olive are able to steal their positive momentum.
