Volleyball Game Preview: Pebble Hills Spartans vs. Eastlake Falcons

The Pebble Hills Spartans are taking a road trip to take on the Eastlake Falcons at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. The two teams are strolling into their matches after big wins in their previous games.

Having struggled with five losses in a row, Pebble Hills turned things around against Socorro on Tuesday. They put the hurt on the Bulldogs with a sharp 3-0 win.

Pebble Hills never let Socorro on the board, but things got pretty close in the second set. The match finished with set scores of 25-16, 25-22, 25-11.

Meanwhile, Eastlake got the win against Franklin on Tuesday by a conclusive 3-0. The Falcons haven't had any issues with the Cougars recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.

Eastlake walked away with the win (and looked especially good in the third set). The final score came out to 25-18, 25-21, 28-10.

Pebble Hills better focus on containing Addison Carrillo and Mia Varela as the pair were huge in Eastlake's win. Carrillo had 12 digs and one assist, while Varela had six digs. Carrillo is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had ten or more in each of the last five games she's played.

Pebble Hills' victory was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-3 and their overall record up to 8-16. As for Eastlake, their win bumped their record up to 27-3.

Pebble Hills suffered a grim 3-0 defeat to Eastlake when the teams last played back in October of 2024. Can the Spartans avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
