Softball Game Preview: West Covina Bulldogs vs. Northview Vikings

For the second straight game, West Covina will face off against Northview. The Bulldogs will welcome the Vikings at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday.

On Tuesday, West Covina came up short against Northview and fell 8-4. The Bulldogs have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

For Northview's part, Clementina Duran made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching seven innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off five hits. Duran has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and one double.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Bella Ochoa, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4. Reina Granados was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.

The victory (which was Northview's eighth in a row) raised their record to 13-5-1. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.6 runs over those games. As for West Covina, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-8-1.
