Baseball Recap: Oakland Wins Going Away Against Upperman

Oakland owes their pitching crew a big pat on the back after their performance on Saturday. They put the hurt on the Upperman Bees with a sharp 6-0 win. The contest marked the Patriots' most dominant victory of the season so far.

Brody Huddleston tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run over six innings pitched.

On the hitting side, Asher Evans was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. That home run marked the first that he launched this season. Another player making a difference was Andrew Carver, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, two RBI, and one double.

Oakland was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .407. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Upperman only posted a batting average of .250.

The win made it two in a row for Oakland and bumps their season record up to 3-1-1. A key ingredient in that success has been their performance when it comes to hits: they averaged an imposing 11 hits in those games compared to only four in the others. As for Upperman, their defeat was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 2-3.

Looking ahead, Oakland will face off against Cookeville at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Upperman, they will venture away from home to take on Blackman at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
