Baseball Recap: Enumclaw Gets the Win

Enumclaw never got on the board in their matchup on Tuesday, but that sure wasn't the case in their game against Bellarmine Prep on Wednesday. They skirted past the Lions 11-9. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Hornets have posted since April 21st.

Carter Grant looked comfortable as he struck out six batters over four innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off seven hits (and only one walk). He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Drew Francis, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with four stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. What's more, he posted two hits, the most he's had since back in March. Another player making a difference was Cole Chiechi, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases, one run, and one double.

Enumclaw is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups. That somehow still isn't as good as their 17-5 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.3 runs over those games. As for Bellarmine Prep, with the loss, they broke their four-game winning streak and moved their record to 10-10.

As of now, neither Enumclaw nor the Lions have any future games scheduled.
