Softball Recap: Smethport Takes a Loss

After soaring to 19 runs the game before, Smethport was a bit more limited in their game on Friday. They came up short against the Otto-Eldred Terrors, falling 9-2. The Hubbers have struggled against the Terrors recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive lost matchup.

Smethport saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Mariah Tanner, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. Tanner has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played.

Smethport's defeat dropped their record down to 2-4. As for Otto-Eldred, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 3-4 record this season.

Smethport will head out to square off against Allegheny-Clarion Valley at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Falcons have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 15.5 runs per game on average), something the Hubbers will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Otto-Eldred, they will host Port Allegany at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
