Softball Recap: Cape Henlopen's Win on Wednesday Extends Winning Streak to 18

Cape Henlopen strolled into their game on Wednesday with a perfect record and they left with the same. They put the hurt on Padua Academy with a sharp 9-2 win. Considering the Vikings have won 12 matchups by more than six runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Abby Marsh made a splash while hitting and pitching. She struck out 11 batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base and one run.

In other batting news, Ava Calciano was a standout: she went 2-for-4 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. She has been hot for a while, having posted at least one stolen base the last nine times she's played. Another player making a difference was Abi Crouch, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, one run, and one double.

Cape Henlopen's victory was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 18-0. As for Padua Academy, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 9-6.

Looking ahead, Cape Henlopen will be playing in front of their home fans against Lake Forest at 4:15 p.m. on Friday.
