Softball Recap: Isle of Wight Academy Takes a Loss

Isle of Wight Academy fell victim to Nansemond-Suffolk Academy and their airtight pitching crew on Thursday. They fell just short of the Saints by a score of 1-0. The Chargers were not able to make up for their loss to the Saints from their previous meeting back in May of 2024.

This is the second loss in a row for Isle of Wight Academy and nudges their season record down to 7-9. Even worse, they were so close both times: the defeats came by an average of only 1.5 runs. As for Nansemond-Suffolk Academy, they are on a roll lately: they've won 12 of their last 13 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-4 record this season.

Isle of Wight Academy will be playing in front of their home fans against Windsor at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The Dukes' pitching crew has only allowed four runs per game this season, so the Chargers' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Nansemond-Suffolk Academy, they will venture away from home to square off against Western Branch at 5:45 p.m. on Monday. The Saints' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Bruins have averaged an impressive 11.8 runs per game this season.
