Baseball Recap: Lake Highland Prep Wins Going Away Against Merritt Island Christian

The Lake Highland Prep Highlanders made easy work of the Merritt Island Christian Cougars on Friday and carried off an 8-1 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Highlanders.

Hayden Mackle looked comfortable as he tossed four innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. That's the fewest hits he has allowed over his last five matches.

On the hitting side, Manny Socarras was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one triple, one stolen base, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Landon Towns, who scored two runs and stole two bases while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances.

Lake Highland Prep's record now sits at 9-10. As for Merritt Island Christian, they dropped their record down to 3-6 with the defeat, which was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Looking ahead, Lake Highland Prep will head out to square off against Cocoa Beach at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Cocoa Beach's pitching crew has only allowed 3.9 runs per game this season, so Lake Highland Prep's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Merritt Island Christian, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Geneva at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
