Football Game Preview: Montville Wolves vs. Stonington Bears

For the first time this season, Montville will have a chance to prove themselves in a conference matchup. After each having a week off, they and the Stonington Bears will shake off the cobwebs and hit the field against one another at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Montville is looking for their season's first win.

Montville is headed into the contest out to prove that what happened against Ledyard two weeks ago (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. The Wolves were dealt a 42-6 defeat at the hands of the Colonels. The Wolves were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 22-0.

Meanwhile, Stonington never let their opponents score last Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Windham 37-0. The Bears' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

The victory made it two in a row for Stonington and bumps their season record up to 2-2. Those wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 14 points in those games. As for Montville, their loss dropped their record down to 0-4.

Montville was dealt a bruising 58-20 defeat at the hands of Stonington when the teams last played back in October of 2024. Can the Wolves avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
