The Badger Badgers will face off against the Woodstock North Thunder at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Badger's pitching crew has only allowed four runs per game this season, so Woodstock North's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
Woodstock North will be up against a hot Badger squad: the team just extended their winning streak to three. The Badgers came out on top against Janesville Parker by a score of 10-6 on Friday.
Troy Hibbard looked comfortable as he tossed four innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Matthew O'Grady, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in April. The team also got some help courtesy of Gavin Stewart, who went 1-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.
Meanwhile, after soaring to 15 runs the game before, Woodstock North was a bit more limited in their match on Tuesday. They fell 4-1 to Woodstock.
Woodstock North also got a good showing from Brad Lalor, who pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off four hits. Lalor has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in ten consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Woodstock North saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Brady Rogers, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base. Grant Schnulle also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.
Badger pushed their record up to 13-5 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.8 runs on average over those games. As for Woodstock North, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-12 record this season.
Badger skirted past Woodstock North 7-5 when the teams last played back in May of 2024. Do the Badgers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Thunder turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
