Basketball Recap: Johnston Comes Up Short

Johnston lost against Mt. Hope on Tuesday, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Johnston Panthers might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 51-38 to the Mt. Hope Huskies, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior. The Panthers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Despite the defeat, Johnston saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Alanna Colon posted 21 points. Colon has become a key player for Johnston: the team is 3-1 when she posts at least 20 points, but 5-15 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Bella Rivas, who put up nine points.

Johnston's loss dropped their record down to 8-16. As for Mt. Hope, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a massive bump to their 12-10 record this season.

Johnston does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Mt. Hope, they will square off against Tiverton at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Tiverton will roll in looking for their 12th straight win, something Mt. Hope surely won't give up without a fight.
