Baseball Recap: Oviedo Takes a Loss

After soaring to ten runs the game before, Oviedo was a bit more limited in their game on Tuesday. They took a 5-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Mount Dora Christian Academy Bulldogs. The Lions were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Bulldogs apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in March of 2022.

Bryce Francher was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he struck out six batters over 4.1 innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits (and only one walk). That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in March of 2024.

On the hitting side, Chase Negron made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored a run and stole four bases while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. Those four stolen bases gave him a new career-high.

Oviedo's loss dropped their record down to 1-1.

Coming up, Oviedo will hit the road for the first time this season to take on Lake Brantley at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Mount Dora Christian Academy, they will welcome Eustis at 7:00 p.m. on February 18th.
