Softball Game Preview: Oakville Acorns vs. Taholah Chitwhins

The Oakville Acorns will head out to take on the Taholah Chitwhins at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.

On Monday, Oakville made easy work of Lake Quinault and carried off a 20-14 victory. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win the Acorns have posted against the Elks since April 29, 2017.

The home team had come away the winner the last five times Taholah and Wishkah Valley had met, but sadly for the fans who attended this one that wasn't the case. The Chitwhins put the hurt on the Loggers with a sharp 14-1 victory on Wednesday. Considering the Chitwhins have won three games by more than nine runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Taholah's win ended a five-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 3-1. As for Oakville, their victory bumped their record up to 2-9-1.

Oakville might still be hurting after the 15-0 defeat they got from Taholah in their previous meeting back in April of 2023. Can the Acorns avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
