Basketball Recap: Neptune Picks Up Eighth Consecutive Victory

Neptune extended their winning streak to eight games thanks to a huge performance from Lana Ellington. Everything went the Scarlet Fliers' way against the Ocean Township Spartans on Friday as they made off with a 54-29 win for which the team can thank Ellington, who shot 50% from the field en route to 23 points and four steals. She is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in each of the last ten games she's played dating back to last season.

The team also got some help courtesy of Tyeera Howard, who went 6-for-10 on her way to 13 points in addition to seven assists and seven rebounds. Thanks to that strong game, she now owns an excellent 46.8% field goal percentage.

Neptune's victory bumped their record up to 8-0. As for Ocean Township, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-4 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. Neptune will head out to take on Middletown North at 5:15 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Ocean Township, they won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Barnegat at 11:15 a.m. on Saturday.
