Franklin Parish (Winnsboro, La.) grabbed a lead in the first quarter and rode that momentum to a 35-23 win over
Oak Grove (La.).
In the first quarter, the Patriots put up 27 points. Franklin Parish scored on a kick return touchdown by
Johnny Bell, a touchdown run by
Reginald Carter, a
Marcus Bingham touchdown run and a touchdown run by
Brandon Hillman.
After taking the lead on a kick return touchdown by Bell in the first quarter, FP led 27-14 at the half.
The Winnsboro school grew its lead to 14 points entering the fourth quarter. The Patriots scored two times in the third, including once on a Carter touchdown run.
The victory was a completely different match up compared to last season's game between these two teams, which the Tigers took, 27-0.
The win was a nice bounce back for Franklin Parish, which lost to Airline last week, 15-12.
Franklin Parish (3-1) will play a non-conference game against Haynesville next week, while Oak Grove (2-2) will take on Mangham also in a non-conference game.
