Basketball Game Preview: Marist War Eagles vs. Clarkston Angoras

The Marist War Eagles will square off against the Clarkston Angoras at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Marist is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last 11 games.

On Tuesday, Marist really took it to St. Pius X Catholic for the full four quarters, racking up a 68-41 win. The War Eagles have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 13 games by 20 points or more this season.

Meanwhile, Clarkston played a tough contest on Monday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They took a blow against Lithonia, falling 62-25. The Angoras haven't had much luck with the Bulldogs recently, as the team's come up short the last four times they've met.

Marist will have to keep a close watch on Genet Abatie and Grace Kasongo, a pair of players who had a big impact on Clarkston's prior game. Abatie posted eight points, while Kasongo earned six points.

Marist pushed their record up to 19-2 with the victory, which was their 18th straight at home dating back to last season. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 25.1 points per game. As for Clarkston, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-15.
