Baseball Game Preview: Greely Rangers vs. Edward Little Red Eddies

Greely is a perfect 3-0 against Edward Little since April of 2022 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Monday. The Rangers will welcome the Red Eddies at 4:00 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Greely has five straight victories, Edward Little has three straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Greely's pitching crew heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past Cape Elizabeth 1-0. The one-run effort marked the Rangers' lowest-scoring contest of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.

Not much got past Gehrig Donnelly, who gave up just five hits and racked up six Ks to keep Cape Elizabeth off the board. Those six strikeouts set a new season-high mark for Donnelly.

On the hitting side, Greely's victory was truly a team effort as three different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Ben Kyles, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Edward Little lost 14-2 to Bangor on Thursday.

Edward Little's loss dropped their record down to 1-3. As for Greely, they pushed their record up to 5-0 with the win, which was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season.

Greely came out on top in a nail-biter against Edward Little when the teams last played back in April of 2024, sneaking past 3-2. Will the Rangers repeat their success, or do the Red Eddies have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
