Football Recap: Ajavius Joyner's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Campbell over Harrison + How To Watch

Campbell played a tough contest on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They lost 45-20 to the Harrison Hoyas. While losing is never fun, the Spartans can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia football rankings (they are ranked 138th, while the Hoyas are ranked 39th).

Campbell's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ajavius Joyner, who picked up 91 receiving yards and one TD, and also punched in one touchdown on the ground.

Harrison found their leader in sophomore Aiden Watson, who rushed for 63 yards and a pair of scores on only seven carries, and also threw for 182 yards and a pair of TDs while completing 73.9% of his passes. Dj Huggins did his part to keep the secondary busy, picking up 107 receiving yards.

This is the second loss in a row for Campbell and nudges their season record down to 3-2. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 4-0 McEachern (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 100% over those games). As for Harrison, their win was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 5-0.

Looking ahead, after each having a week off, Campbell and South Cobb will shake off the cobwebs and hit the field against one another at 7:30 p.m. on October 3. That matchup will pit two of the most dominant signal callers against one another: Davin Lemire and Freedom Jones. As for Harrison, they will be playing in front of their home fans against McEachern at 7:30 p.m. on October 3. The two teams might be coming in a bit winded given these two teams combined for 909 yards in their previous games.
