Basketball Recap: Sotomayor Now 10-1 over Last 11 Games

Sotomayor won the last time they faced Holmes, and Jah'Dae Bussey did her part to make sure it happened again. The Sotomayor WILDCATS took their match on Friday with ease, bagging a 63-29 victory over the Holmes Huskies thanks in part to Bussey, who almost dropped a double-double on 23 points and nine steals. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in steals.

Another player making a difference was Jordan Pete, who went 6 for 13 en route to 18 points. The contest was her sixth in a row with at least ten points.

Despite the loss, Holmes still got an impressive performance from Theresa Caravlho, who posted eight points along with seven rebounds and three steals.

Sotomayor is on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 11 games, which provided a nice bump to their 21-8 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 65.2 points per game. As for Holmes, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 16-13.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Sotomayor will take on Taft at 6:00 p.m. on January 24th. As for Holmes, they will challenge Harlan at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Holmes is facing Harlan at the right time seeing as Harlan is stuck on a three-game losing streak.
