Basketball Game Preview: South Point Pointers vs. Norton Panthers

The South Point Pointers will wrap up 2024 with a road trip to face off against the Norton Panthers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.

Last Thursday, South Point might have been a little too into the holiday spirit, gifting Chesapeake an easy 66-42 victory. While losing is never fun, the Pointers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 311th, while the Panthers are ranked 38th).

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Norton). They took their match on Thursday with ease, bagging a 70-34 win over Springfield. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest victory of the season.

The win got Norton back to even at 4-4. As for South Point, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-4 record this season.
