Baseball Recap: Dunbar Takes a Loss

Patterson hit Dunbar with a eight-run fourth inning on Saturday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Poets lost 12-2 to the Clippers. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Poets have suffered since April 14th.

Zakai Lewis made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with four stolen bases and one run. Lewis is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: he's snagged at least one every time he's taken the field this season. Another player making a difference was Jeremiah Moore, who got on base in both of his plate appearances with two stolen bases and one run.

With the defeat, Dunbar broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 11-5-1. As for Patterson, the victory snapped their losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 14-4-1 record.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Dunbar will venture away from home to challenge Forest Park at 3:45 p.m. on Monday. As for Patterson, they will head out to face off against Edmondson-Westside at 3:45 p.m. on Monday. The Red Storm have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 9.05 runs per game on average), something the Clippers will no doubt try to take advantage of.
