Basketball Game Preview: Prosser Mustangs vs. Toppenish Wildcats

The Prosser Mustangs will challenge the Toppenish Wildcats at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Prosser knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past ten games -- so hopefully Toppenish likes a good challenge.

On Tuesday, Prosser was just a bucket shy of victory and fell 70-69 to Selah. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game on Friday (68), the Mustangs still had to take the loss.

Meanwhile, Toppenish had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 10.5 points) and they went ahead and made it three on Tuesday. They skirted past the Tigers 46-43. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Wildcats have posted since January 26, 2024.

Prosser's defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 16-6. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 79.7 points over those games. As for Toppenish, their victory bumped their record up to 9-12.

Everything came up roses for Prosser against Toppenish in their previous meeting two weeks ago, as the team secured an 80-51 win. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Toppenish's Jack Davila, who posted 21 points. Now that he's got a second chance to win this matchup, will Prosser still be able to contain Davila? There's only one way to find out.
