Football Recap: Piner Starts Season with Loss on the Road

Piner had to hit the road for their first game and it wasn't the result they were hoping for. The contest between them and the Middletown Mustangs wasn't particularly close, with the Piner Prospectors falling 33-14. The Prospectors were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Mustangs apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in August of 2023.

Soso Prak threw for 196 yards and two touchdowns, and also rushed for 76 yards on only nine carries. Jaden Hernandez was his top target, picking up 87 receiving yards.

Piner will have plenty of time to ponder what went wrong as they've got a bye scheduled next week. After, they'll take on Washington at 7:00 p.m. on September 13th. As for Middletown, they will venture away from home to take on Piedmont at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
