Baseball Game Preview: Northview Knights vs. Plainfield Quakers

The Northview Knights will face off against the Plainfield Quakers at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The last three games Northview has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

On Wednesday, Northview didn't have quite enough to beat Edgewood and fell 2-1.

Trey Edlridge was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he struck out six batters over six innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits.

On the hitting side, Northview saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jackson Pierce, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Plainfield didn't have quite enough to beat Perry Meridian on Wednesday and fell 3-2.

Northview has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-9 record this season. As for Plainfield, their loss dropped their record down to 10-9.

The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Thursday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Northview has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.4 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Plainfield struggles in that department as they've been averaging 7.5 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.

Northview skirted past Plainfield 6-5 in their previous meeting back in May of 2024. Will the Knights repeat their success, or do the Quakers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
