Softball Recap: Saint James Beats Mars Hill Bible for Their Eighth Straight Win

It's playoff time, and Saint James had no trouble coming through when it counted. They came out on top against the Mars Hill Bible Panthers by a score of 6-1 on Tuesday. The victory was nothing new for the Trojans as they're now sitting on eight straight.

Emily Needham spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on three hits and racked up ten Ks. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 14 consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Saint James let Sydney Johnston and Arden Green run wild. Johnston went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, one run, and one double, while Green went 2-for-4 with two doubles, two RBI, and one run. That's the most RBI Green has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Lily Stanford, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run.

Saint James hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least three batters in eight consecutive games.

Saint James' record is now 50-7. As for Mars Hill Bible, they moved to 39-13 with that loss, which also ended their five-game winning streak.

Saint James wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next matchup, a 2-1 defeat against Wicksburg on the 13th. As for Mars Hill Bible, they have also already played their next contest, a 5-2 win against Lee-Scott Academy on the 13th.
