The Cedar Ridge Fighting Red Wolves will face off against the Person Rockets at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Cedar Ridge has five straight wins, Person has four straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Cedar Ridge made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Falls Lake, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Fighting Red Wolves were the clear victors by a 9-3 margin over the Firebirds on Thursday. The result was nothing new for the Fighting Red Wolves, who have now won eight contests by six runs or more so far this season.

Mia Best made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She struck out seven batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off seven hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, firing off two home runs, four RBI, and one stolen base while going 2-for-4. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March.
In other batting news, Kimber Shambley was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run. Madeline Galindo-Woodring was another key player, scoring a run while going 1-for-3.
Cedar Ridge lost a few balls and finished the game with four home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, Person came up short against Oxford Prep on Wednesday and fell 8-3.
Person saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Macey Bowes, who went 2-for-3 with two doubles and one RBI. Another was Camryn Clarke, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.
Person's defeat dropped their record down to 6-10. As for Cedar Ridge, their victory bumped their record up to 10-5.
Person's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Cedar Ridge has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9.6 hits per game. It's a different story for Person, though, as they've been averaging 11.1 hits. Given Cedar Ridge's sizable advantage in that area, the Rockets will need to find a way to close that gap.
Cedar Ridge took their win against Person in their previous meeting back in March by a conclusive 15-2 score. Do the Fighting Red Wolves have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Rockets turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
