Basketball Game Preview: West Port Wolf Pack vs. P.K. Yonge Blue Wave

The West Port Wolf Pack will square off against the P.K. Yonge Blue Wave at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

West Port's tournament run continued when they took on Forest last Friday. West Port came out on top against Forest by a score of 52-44. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Wolf Pack.

It was another big night for Aaliyah Grant, who dropped a double-double on 31 points and 20 boards. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in rebounds. Another player making a difference was Calise Smith, who went 6 of 14 on her way to 13 points along with six assists and six boards.

P.K. Yonge meant business on Thursday, getting buckets from all over the court against a Lions squad that has allowed just 29.38 points per contest. P.K. Yonge put the hurt on First Christian with a sharp 59-36 victory. The game was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 35-11.

P.K. Yonge's win came from a few key players West Port will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Matilda Parrish, who almost dropped a double-double on 16 points and nine rebounds. Montinique Williams was another key player, going 6 for 10 en route to 16 points in addition to five boards and five steals.

West Port's win bumped their record up to 13-7. As for P.K. Yonge, their victory bumped their record up to 4-17.

Things could have been worse for West Port, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 61-43 loss to P.K. Yonge when the teams last played back in December of 2023.
