Basketball Recap: Grant Rice Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Elkhorn

Gretna East won the last time they faced Elkhorn and things went their way on Thursday too. The Gretna East Griffins took down the Elkhorn Antlers 57-41. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Griffins.

Gretna East's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Grant Rice, who went 5 for 8 on his way to 12 points and six boards. Talan Hovie was another key player, going 6 of 9 en route to 16 points and five assists.

Despite the loss, Elkhorn still got an impressive performance from Charlie Lamski, who posted 12 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Nixon Farmer, who had 11 points.

Gretna East pushed their record up to 9-5 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.0 points per game. As for Elkhorn, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-7 record this season.

Gretna East didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 60-59 victory against Boys Town on the 24th. Elkhorn has also already played their next game, a 58-53 win against Crete on the 25th.
