Softball Recap: Lakeside Picks Up Ninth Straight Win at Home

Lakeside put another one in the bag on Saturday to keep their perfect season alive. Everything went their way against the Converse Wildcats as the Lakeside Warriors made off with a 10-1 victory. Ten seems to be a good number for the Warriors as the team scooped up a win with the same number of runs in their previous game.

Moose Jernigan made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out seven batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits (and not a single walk). Jernigan was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 2-for-3. That run marked the first that she's scored this season.

In other batting news, Madilynn Squyres was excellent, scoring a run while going 2-for-2. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in hits (two). Maggie Mandino was another key player, scoring two runs while going 1-for-3.

Lakeside hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now struck out at most five strikeouts every time they've taken the field this season.

Lakeside's victory was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 5-0. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.9 runs over those games. As for Converse, they are on a four-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.

Coming up, Lakeside will welcome Haughton at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Converse, a feisty cat fight will be fought as the Wildcats duke it out with the Tigers at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
