Baseball Game Preview: Cardinal Newman Cardinals vs. Rancho Cotate Cougars

For the second straight game, Cardinal Newman will face off against Rancho Cotate. The Cardinals will be playing in front of their home fans against the Cougars at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Cardinal Newman's pitching crew has only allowed 3.3 runs per game this season, so Rancho Cotate's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Cardinal Newman barely beat Rancho Cotate the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Cardinals blew past the Cougars 11-1 on Wednesday. Considering the Cardinals' hitters had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.

Cardinal Newman got a great performance from Josh Jannicelli as he struck out nine batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. Jannicelli is becoming a predictor of the Cardinals' success: when he allows at most one hit the team is 3-1 (and 7-9 when he doesn't).
