Preview: Cedar Park Timberwolves vs. A&M Consolidated Tigers
The Cedar Park Timberwolves will head out on the road to face off against the A&M Consolidated Tigers at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Cedar Park is coming into the game hot, having won their last six games.
With a playoff game on the line, Cedar Park rose to the challenge on Friday. They took down the Wildcats 21-3. Given Cedar Park's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 106th, while Angleton is ranked 235th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Cedar Park relied on the efforts of Ayden Arp, who threw for 128 yards and a touchdown, and Trae Hill, who gained 196 total yards and two touchdowns.
Meanwhile, A&M Consolidated waltzed into Friday's contest with two straight wins but they left with three. They came out on top against Fulshear by a score of 31-19.
Among those leading the charge was Trey Taylor, who rushed for 149 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 8.3 yards per carry. Taylor's longest rush was for an incredible 82 yards. Another player making a difference was Will Hargett, who threw for 214 yards and a touchdown while completing 75% of his passes.
The last time Cedar Park lost on the road was back back in September. Having now won five straight away matchups, they've pushed their record up to 9-3. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 36.6 points per game. As for A&M Consolidated, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 9-3 record this season.
We should be in store for an exciting game Friday as Cedar Park and A&M Consolidated have no problem gaining yardage. Cedar Park has been on an offensive roll this season, having averaged 362.7 total yards per game. However, it's not like A&M Consolidated struggles in that department as they've been averaging 350.9 per game. With a pair of commanding offenses duking it out, the defenses are going to have their work cut out for them.
Cedar Park came up short against A&M Consolidated in their previous matchup back in September, falling 24-16. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of A&M Consolidated's Camron Vines, who rushed for 117 yards and a touchdown. Now that Cedar Park knows the damage he can cause, will they be able to stop him this time? Check MaxPreps.com after the match to find out.
