Football Recap: Omar Salgado Jr and Mateo Fernandez Pace Pecos Defense

Pecos made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Fort Stockton, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Eagles fell just short of the Panthers by a score of 16-14 on Friday. The defeat continues a trend for the Eagles in their meetings with the Panthers: they've now lost five in a row.

Although Pecos took the loss, they still got scores from Omar Salgado Jr and Heyden Martinez.

Pecos didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Salgado Jr and Mateo Fernandez. Pecos got some further help from Ziggy Hinojoz: he made nine total tackles (5.0 for loss).

Pecos' loss dropped their record down to 1-2. As for Fort Stockton, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 2-1.

Looking ahead, Pecos will square off against Kermit at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Fort Stockton, they will face off against Crane at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
