Softball Recap: Frontier Comes Up Short

Shadyside hit Frontier with a five-run second inning on Saturday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Cougars fell just short of the Tigers by a score of 9-7. Cougars fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team has lost against the Tigers since Saturday.

Mikayla Bennett put in work while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching seven innings while giving up just two earned (and seven unearned) runs off five hits. Bennett was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with one home run.

In other batting news, Bailey Yoho was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Kate Congleton, who went 3-for-4 with one run and one RBI.

Frontier's loss dropped their record down to 8-10. As for Shadyside, the victory snapped their losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 8-7 record.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Frontier beat the Tigers by a score of 15-5 later that day.
