Carlisle County and St. Mary are an even 5-5 against one another since April of 2018, but likely not for long. The Comets are taking a road trip to square off against the Vikings at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. St. Mary took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Carlisle County, who comes in off a win.
Carlisle County's pitching crew heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Thursday. They blew past Hickman County 11-0. Considering the Comets have won seven games by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Carlisle County let Koltyn Perez and Caysen Mitchell run wild. Perez got on base in all four of his plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI, while Mitchell went a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, one run, and one double. Carlisle County is undefeated when Perez posts two or more runs, but 2-8 otherwise. Brennan O'Neill was another key player, going 1-for-4 with one home run and two RBI.
Carlisle County was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .429. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Meanwhile, St. Mary came up short against Paducah Tilghman on Thursday and fell 4-1. The Vikings haven't had much luck with the Blue Tornado recently, as the team has come up short the last nine times they've met.
Ashton Spurr spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered three earned (and one unearned) runs on four hits and racked up seven Ks.
On the hitting side, St. Mary saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Brett Haas, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one double.
The win made it two in a row for Carlisle County and bumps their season record up to 10-8. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 0 runs in those games. As for St. Mary, their defeat was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 14-3.
Carlisle County suffered a grim 6-0 defeat to St. Mary in their previous matchup back in May of 2024. Can the Comets avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
