Baseball Recap: Arthur-Okaw Christian Victorious

Arthur-Okaw Christian's game on Friday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Saturday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Eastland Cougars, sneaking past 5-3. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Conquering Riders have posted since March 18th.

Cody Kuhns made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over six innings while giving up three earned runs off three hits. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in May of 2024. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-2.

Kuhns wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Grayson Schrock, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3. Ian Herschberger also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Arthur-Okaw Christian is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-3 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.7 runs on average over those games. As for Eastland, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-6.

Looking ahead, Arthur-Okaw Christian will head out to take on Casey-Westfield at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Eastland, they will be playing at home against Ashton-Franklin Center at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
