Basketball Recap: West Gate Christian Academy Starts Season with Loss at Home

West Gate Christian Academy unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. They received a blow on Friday as they fell 69-52 to the Palm Grove Christian Gators. The Patriots have struggled against the Gators recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost matchup.

Landon Riehl went supernova For Palm Grove Christian., going 5-for-8 en route to 15 points along with seven boards and six assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Jeremiah Pitts, who posted 11 points in addition to five rebounds and five steals.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. West Gate Christian Academy will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on New Jerusalem Christian Academy at 5:30 p.m. on the 17th. As for Palm Grove Christian, they will face off against Community Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
