Recap: Screven County Gamecocks vs. Bryan County Redskins
The Screven County Gamecocks's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fifth straight loss. They took a serious blow against Bryan County, falling 83-47. Screven County has struggled against Bryan County recently, as their match on Friday was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.
Screven County's loss came despite strong showings from Deven Oliver and Brennen Fountain. Oliver scored nine points along with six rebounds and three blocks, while Fountain scored 15 points. That's the first time this season that Oliver posted two or more blocks. Jordan Gresham was another key contributor, scoring four points.
Elijah Mincey continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Bryan County, scoring 29 points along with five rebounds and three steals. Those 29 points set a new season-high mark for him. The team also got some help courtesy of Chris Winfree, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten rebounds.
Screven County's defeat was their 15th straight on the road dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 2-7. As for Bryan County, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 9-3.
Screven County will be playing in front of their home fans against Burke County at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday. Burke County presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Screven County in Georgia (Burke County is ranked 143rd, while Screven County is ranked 430th). As for Bryan County, they will head out on the road to face off against Southeast Bulloch at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday.
