Softball Recap: Abbott Panthers vs. Ector Eagles

With a playoff game on the line, Abbott rose to the challenge on Wednesday. Everything went their way against the Ector Eagles as they made off with a 10-3 win. Abbott might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team's won 13 matchups by seven runs or more this season.

Abby Neill made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits. Neill has been consistent recently: she hasn't pitched less than five innings in six consecutive pitching appearances. Neill was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3.

In other batting news, Rylee Wise was incredible, going 3-for-4 with two runs, a triple, and a double. Cheyenne Linder was another key contributor, scoring a run while going 1-for-4.

Abbott's victory bumped their record up to 16-13. As for Ector, they are on a 14-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-17.

Abbott will challenge Dodd City on Saturday. Dodd City is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.5 runs per game this season. Ector does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
